The only real difference is that the player's death afterward is much more comedic than brutal, as the player gets punched and bloodlessly slides across the ground.įromSoftware handles the player accomplishing a fairly impressive feat in the game's tutorial fairly well. It's actually fairly similar, as the player is still taken to the Unknown Egress, where they're dispatched with ease by the Dragon God. This left some players who had not played the original Demon's Souls wondering what exactly happens if a player kills the Vanguard in the original game. Needless to say, the player is quickly killed by the Dragon God, and the game progresses as normal, with the player being resurrected at the Nexus. The player brutally skids over the ground, their skull eventually bursting with blood. However, it's important to remember that this is still a Soul's game and that the player dying is still a key part of the game's plot. There's still one more "reward" waiting for the player in the Unknown Egress.

If the player manages to defeat the boss in the tutorial, they'll be teleported to an area known as an "Unknown Egress." The Unknown Egress is an area that takes on the appearance of a chapel and can actually be seen from a different area of the game. As the player navigates through the area, they'll find a few bits of Full Moon Grass, a powerful healing item that serves as a significant early-game reward. Normally, the player character is killed by the Vanguard and taken to a cutscene introducing them to the Nexus, the game's hub world. However, it is actually possible to cheat the game's expectations and defeat the tutorial boss of the Demon's Souls remake.
No game is quite as brutal as the Souls series of games, and that stays true in the Demon's Soulsremake, with even the world working against the player character, the Slayer. The game's tutorial put players against the Vanguard, one of many great bosses in the game, and players are also expected to die during this fight.
